Study of certain factors influencing yield in the variety Muscat Ottonel
1991
Varga, L. (Balatonboglari Mezogazd. Komb. Kutatoall. (Hungary))
A 15-year (1968-1983) experiment on leaf nutrient contents carried out in a vineyard of Muscat Ottonel vines planted in 1962 and cultivated using the Moser cordon method indicated that certain factors (Ca content at flowering, K and N content at harvest, N-K ratio) had an effect on the quantity of yield developing in the following year. For this variety, which is sensitive to the temperature at flowering, it could be observed over the average of several years that flowering in Balatonboglar (mid-Transdanubia) began when the residual heat sum reached 367 C degrees. There was a substantial loss of yield when the mean temperature was less than 18 C degrees during the 10-day flowering period.
