Response of pepper varieties on the technology adopted and the use of dolomite fertilizer

Different black pepper (Piper nigrum L) varieties are cultivated by farmers in Bangka on podsolic soil, which is physically and chemically poor with an acid soil reaction. To increase the pepper productivity, a trial was conducted at the Petaling Experimental Station Bangka. The experimental design was randomized block in two replications. The plot size was nine vines with the plant spacing of 2.5 m x 2.5 m. Six varieties of pepper namely Jambi, Chunuk Kemuja 1 (CK 1), Chunuk Kemuka 2 (Ck 2), Lampung Daun Lebar Sungkap 2 (LDLS 2), Lampung Daun Lebar Namang 1 (LDLN 1), Lampung Daun Lebar Namang 2 (LDLN 2) were experienced in different treatments namely mulching and nematicide combined with dolomite applications. As the control the plants were raised on untreated plots. The results showed that the treatments significantly affected growth and yield components, dry yield and number of spikes. At the first and second years of harvest, LDSL 2 produced the highest yield of dry and spike. Interaction between liming and mulching at the second harvest produced the highest yield of dry and spike of LDLS 2.
