Effect of dietary sodium chloride and energy levels on the local chicks infected with Heterakis gallinarum

A total of 270 one-day-old-local chicks divided into six equal groups and maintained on different rations. Rations were different in the level of sodium chloride, molasses in place of wheat, and or the presence of sand as an undigestible dietary diluent. Chicks in all groups except in group one, were inoculated with 200 embryonated Heterakis gallinarum eggs when they were two weeks old. It was concluded that sodium chloride level and energy source in the hosts diet may influence helminth growth and maturation and affected the chick's performance when Heterakis gallinarum is present
