Effect of form and method of phosphate fertilizer application on maize, sorghum and millet growth in a semi-arid environment of Kenya. 2: Effect on bulrush and finger millet

A field study was performed in 1986 at the National Dryland Farming Research Centre, Katumani, to evaluate the effectiveness of forms and methods of phosphate fertilizer application on millet growth. Results showed that phosphorus at 40Kg P/ha (plus 60kg N/ha) significantly increased the yield of bulrush millet particularly from vegetative to productive stages of growth. The highest millet yield increases (reaching 75 in grain) were found through SSP application, may be due to the additional content and supply of sulphur from SPP.
