1. Effects of Rhizomania Disease on yield and quality of sugar beet were investigated by using the data of 1986 and 1987 from twenty locations in the area of Hokuren's Shimizu Beet Sugar Factory. 2. The results of variance analysis are as follows: (1) Sugar beets harvested from fields that were seriously injured by the disease contained a small amount of harmful non-sugar components. A-N being especially in small amount. Moreover sugar content was lower for the injured fields than for the healthy ones. (2) A formula to estimate the injuries by Rhizomania disease was obtained as shown below: Y = -0.3458 x (sugar content) x (A-N content) -0.46355 x (sugar content)2 x 4root(A-N content) + 172.27
