Field trial of bromodiolone baits against rice field rats. Terminal Report
1989
Olvida, J.L. (Hoechst, Legaspi Village, Makati, Metro Manila (Philippines))
The study was conducted to describe the performance for bromodiolone baits in wax block form to protect growing rice from rats. Baiting with bromodiolone at 100, 7.5 g bait blocks/ha was at par with sustained baiting, a recommended rat control in rice in the country. The baits had a very good acceptance in the field. Most baits that were revisited 24-36 hrs after baiting were taken by the animals. Baits were observed deteriorating after 36 hrs and ants were also attracted to the baits. The data showed that the amount of bait/ha/season using Beta 100 could be assumed by reducing the size of the block from 7.5 to 5 g block.
