Effect of zinc excess on carbonic anhydrase activity of crops

Pot cultures of peas and oats grown on sand were given different doses of zinc sulphate. Toxic rates of 66 and 132 mg Zn/kg of sand increased zinc content in plants to very high levels and usually brought about a considerable decrease of carbonic anhydrase activity; it was more strong in pea stipules than in oat levels. Zinc toxic rates did not change the content of other nutrients (N, P, Fe, Mn, Cu) beyond physiological ranges in both plants
