Effect of sowing dates and row spacing on the yield of lentil varieties [Lens culinaris]
1992
Varshney, J.G. (Directorate of Pulses Research, Kanpur (India))
A field experiment was conducted at the Experimental Farm of the Directorate of Pulses Research, Kalyanpur, Kanpur (U.P.) India during the 1987-1989 winter seasons. The trial was sown on sandy loam soil with an average 0-20 organic C, and 3.05 and 510 kg/ha available P2O5 and K2O, respectively, with pH =7.0. Sowing of lentil on 6 Nov was most advantageous. Delay in sowing by a month significantly decreased grain yield by 24.5. The small-seeded cultivar PL 639 outyielded the bold-seeded cultivars L 4076 and K 75 in both seasons (2549 kg/ha)
