A study was conducted on 37 lentil seed samples from Hungarian genebank seed stock to investigate the effect of storage time on germinability. These samples were stored in hermetically sealed containers with 6-8 initial moisture content (wet basis) at a temperature of 0-4 C. Four, 16, 16, and 1 samples were stored for 1,3,9, and 19 years, respectively, and were germinated under standard ISTA conditions on rolled paper towel. Data of percentage of germination, seed-modelling, and seedling abnormality were registered for each sample during the germination, and the correlations of these parameters were computed to each other and to storage time. Significant correlations were not calculated between storage time and the parameters of germination tests, but a negative correlation was found between the germination and molding
