Species trials of some terrestrial plants on the tin mine spoiled land has been carried out at Takuapa district. Pangnga Province since 1986 by planting 320 trees of Acacia auriculaeformis Cunn. with 5x5 m. spacing, 800 trees of Casuarina equisetifolia J.R. and G. Forest. with 2x2 m. spacing in 1969 and 5 species of Eucalyptus spp.in 1979. In 1981, 3 species of Eucalyptus spp. were planted with 3 different planting spaces and combined with 3 levels of fertilizer paalication. The studies revealed that E. camaldulensis Dehnh. planted with 2x2 m. spacing and with 2 kg/tree/3yr of NPK (15-15-15) gave best growth performance with 8.59 m. height at 33-month old and 8 cm DBH at 48-month old. A. auriculaeformis Cunn. planted on slime tailing was 17 cm DBH, 10 m. height and approximately 42 ton/ha. of total aboveground biomass. Litter production of this tree species was also studied during 8-to 10-vear old and it's decomposition rate averaged 2 ton/ha./yr. Growth performance of C. equisetifolia J.R. and G. Forest. at 12-year old was 16.2 cm DBH and 20.3 m. height.
