Rahman, M.A. | Siddiqueullah, M. | Mian, A.J. (Bangladesh Agricultural Univ., Mymensingh (Bangladesh))
The degree of substitution, percent elongation, bundle strength and moisture regain of alkyl substituted bleached jute fibre were determined. The results show that 3% sodium chlorite bleached jute fibre after etherification undergoes severe degradation and loses its bundle strength. The elongation i.e. extensibility of jute fibre is achieved upto 12 times more than the control. The moisture regain tendency decreases in both chlorite and sulphite bleached jute fibre, and also in etherified fibres.
