Growth pattern of Aseel chicks were studied from day old to 16 weeks of age under intensive system of rearing. Weekly body weight and daily feed consumption were recorded. The weekly live weight gain in male over female from 2nd week to 16th week was significantly different (P0.05). But mean hatch weight and live weight gain at 1st week in male over female was not significant. The daily feed intake was in similar trend from 1st week to 4th week of age and it increased rapidly from 5th week to 12th week of age beyond which the rate of increase was low. The percentage of difference in weight gain was found highest (29.52%) between 1st and 2nd week followed by 16.07% between 6th and 7th week (16.07%), 15.23% between 7th and 8th week (15.23%) and 12.28% between 8th and 9th week of age. Considering the broiler age, economic return of "Aseel" would be obtained at 8 week of age, where the average body weight and feed efficiency were 419.25g and 2.76:1, respectively. The results obtained in this study indicate that the "Aseel" germ-plasm may be substantially used to develop dual purpose chicken for rural poultry production.
