Combining ability analysis in an 8 x 8 full diallel cross population of mungbean revealed that additive gene action had predominant role in the inheritance of days to flowering, plant height, primary branches/plant, pod clusters/plant, pod length, seeds/pod, 100-seed weight and seed yield/plant. Non-additive gene action and reciprocal variance were also significant for all these characters. The narrow sense heritability was high for seeds/pod, pod length, plant height, 100-seed weight, days to flowering and pod clusters/plant. CUM-8265 appeared as the best combiner for seed yield, pod clusters/plant, pod length, seeds/pod and 100-seed weight. CUM-82607 and CUM-81035 were also good combiner for seed yield and a number of yield contributing characters. For early flowering and short stature CUM-82201 was the best combiner followed by CUM-82097.
