Residual effect of some commonly grown crops, II. efficacy of the residual nutrient judged by succeeding wheat crop [in India]
1991
Ahad, M.A.
Efficacy of crop residual fertility judged by subsequent wheat crop was studied. The residual nutrients of soybean, jute and transplanted rice increased the dry matter yield and nutrient uptake by succeeding crop of wheat except maize that caused reduction. The efficacy of the residual nutrients of soybean, jute or transplanted rice though apparently increased the grain and straw yield of wheat over control, the differences of various crops with the control were not found to be statistically significant. However, the uptake of nutrients by wheat at post-flowering stage or the concentration of N,P,K or Ca in grain or straw were significantly affected by the residual fertility of different crop species. The differential uptake of the nutrients only changed the concentration of the nutrients in grain and straw.
