Relationships between ammonium content and waterberry on table grapes

Comparison of ammonium content on table grape rachis and berries from clusters showing waterberry symptoms with those wealthy tissues indicated higher amount of this ion in affected plant tissues. However, results do not demonstrate a direct toxic effect of ammonium ion because in some cases affected tissues showed ammonium contents in the same range as they wealthy ones. Extra ammonium content obtained from rachis showing waterberry symptoms could be considered as a collateral effect of a nitrogen metabolic disfunction more than a cause of this sindrome
