[Response of two Pinus radiata D. Don stands, growing in the Andes piedmont, after a silvopastoral treatment]
1991
Vega A, Cristian Alberto
Two trials were established on the Andes piedmont, Nuble, VIII Region, Chile, in autumn 1990, in 8 year-old and 5 year-old radiata pine stands. Both destined to soil silvopastoral use. First trial was thinned at 5 year old leaving three sectors with different stockings (180, 270 and 350 stem/ha). In 1990 pasture was fertilized on three stockings with Monoamonic Phosphate (350 kg/ha) and Sulfomag (280 kg/ha). At the end of the first season there was no effects of fertilization on pines growing, but a significant response has been obtained from stocking factor on d.b.h., b.a. and d.b.h.2*Gt increments. Ht increment did not show significant effect at first season. In the second trial six stockings levels (150, 300, 450, 600, 750 and 900 stem/ha) and unthinned control (1760 stem/ha) were tested. Two groups were analyzed one of major initial d.b.h. trees and the other of closets center trees. One year after there was not significant differences in both. Thinning produced a strong regeneration of Nothofagus obliqua (Mirb.) Oerst
