Genetical research on outcross between domestic silkworm (Bombyx mori) and wild silkworm (B. mandarina)

Observation of the progenies of outbreeding between domestic silkworm and wild silkworm showed that cocoon weight, cocoon shell weight, cocoon shell ratio, filament length and size of F1 were similar to those of their wild parent, the characters of BC1 (first backcross generation) took after those of the domestic silkworm parent, and those of F2 were between those of parents, the general trend was wild silkworm F1 F2 BC1 domestic silkworm, and no heterosis was found.
