Herbicide residual activity in some tobacco soils
1984
Lolas, P. | Galopoulos, A. (Tobacco Institute, Drama (Greece).)
In field and greenhouse experiments, conducted 2 or 3 times with 3 to 5 replications, the objectives were: 1) residual activity (RA) of 4 herbicides as affected by rate and time, 2) RA of herbicides in 3 rates and 5 tobacco soils and 3) RA of 2 herbicides in 2 rates as affected by soil pH and organic matter (O.M.). For some tobacco herbicides (butam, isopropalin, pendimethalin, pebulate) bioavailable residues were found for 3 months in greenhouse and for 1 to 2 months in the field. For all herbicides studied (atrazine, butam, alachlor, isopropalin, trifluralin), regardless of the rate RA was reduced (in some more than in others) from sandy, to clayey, to organic soils. Soil pH and organic matter affected RA of alachlor (more) and atrazine.
