Machines for making big bales
1992
Kelemen, Zs.
The machines for making big bales are generally suitable under Hungarian conditions for harvesting raw fodder and straw, but also for the baling of other products, such as maize. Machines for making cylindrical bales are suitable in all cases for the harvesting of straw and grass hay. However, in the case of lucerna hay, good quality can be assured only by strictly following the technological prescriptions. In baling lucerna hay, it is very important to maintain 22-25 % humidity. In this case the bales may be ventilated or dried later in the field, and the leaf-losses may be kept at an acceptable level. The machines for making quadratic big bales operate with a good output and work quality. These machines are suitable for the harvesting of raw fodder (grass, lucerne hay) of good quality, even with a humidity content of 40-60 %. However, products with this humidity content should be handled with special care. Their development is aimed at the improvement of reliability, of comfort and of increasing type variety
