The effect of various ameliorative operations on the crop yields at meadow soils under the hydrological effect of Tisza Lake

At the Abadszalok (Hungary) melioration model site, at meadow and meadow-alluvium soils under the hydrological influence of Tisza Lake, the effects of the various ameliorative operations on the yields can be summarized as follows: With the application of a 25 m spacing drainage system in an 8 year average 0.5-0.6 ton/hectare corn unit yield increases were obtained. A significant increase in yield relative to control required draining off the water from the tubes. At dry condition drainage did not have a yield increasing effect. By the effect of subsoil irrigation through drainage there was no yield increase at sunflower however, 0,5 CU yield increase was found in maize as a three years' average.
