The experiment was carried out at Maros Experimental Farm, during the rainy season of 1988/1989, to study the effect of seeding rate and sowing method of Sesbania rostrata on the N, P and K content of the plant. A randomized block design was used in this experiment with three replications. Seeds were soaked in fresh water for about 24 hours prior sowing. The seeding rates were 10, 15, 20 and 30 kg/ha, while sowing methods were varied i.e. broadcasting, and row seeding. The spacing between rows as 40 and 60 cm respectively. In terms of total content of N, P and K of S. rostrata, the seeding rate of 10 kg/ha can be recommended either through broadcasting or seeding in row by the row spacing of 40 cm. In connection to land preparation and the incorporation of biomass into the soil, it is suggested to harvest the plant at 45 days after emergence. At 45 days after emergence, the use of 10 kg seeds/ha/ sown at 40 cm row spacing, produced 74,0 kg N; 9.1 kg P and 50.4 kg K/ha.
