A field trial to determine the biological efficacy of 5 new fungicides and one fungicide combination against coffee berry disease (CBD) was carried out for 3 years at Kiamumbi estate of Kiambu District. Fluazinum 500gl was found to be effective against Colletotrichum coffeanum at 0.1% and 0.2% formulated product. Octave super and a tank mixture of octave and copper reduced CBD with resultant yield increases during the year with high disease incidence. The other new treatments were inconsistent in diseases control and yield and have therefore been withdrawn from further tests by the manufacturers. Variations in disease development during the period of testing was influenced to a large extent by rainfall distribution and intensity which in turn affected the cropping pattern of coffee. The possible interactions between weather, disease development and the effects of the fungicide treatments are also discussed
