On discussing the availability of soil water supply to plant root, which is one of the factors for desirable plant growth environment, not only soil water retentivity but transportability like soil water diffusivity or hydraulic conductivity must be considered simultaneously, because the overall availability can only explain the function of water supply to roots by the soil type. From this point of view, the paper investigated the case study of the comparison between the soils in cold weathering, Abashiri volcanic soil with low content of organic matters in Hokkaido region and the compared soils of the Kanto loam volcanic soil, the Kurobuku soil and the Masa immature sandy soils were discussed
