On-farm evaluation of new sweetpotato varieties

On-farm trials were conducted in 18 sites in five provinces from December 1992 to August 1993. Nine promising sweetpotato varieties from Pitchit Research Center [Thailand] were compared with the traditional variety in each province. The newly introduced varieties generally gave a higher yield than the traditional varieties. Farmers selected three varieties each in Sukhaothai, Trad and Pitchit, two in Rayong, and four in Ayuthaya
