Makhoul, J. | Qudsiah, M. (Tishreen Univ., Latakia (Syria). Faculty of Agriculture)
The primary studies showed the success of quince propagation using IBA treated soft wood and semi hard wood cuttings under greenhouse conditions. The soft wood cutting taken early in spring showed a high response to IBA and rapid rooting. Nursery stocks were ready for planting within 4 months. Whereas, the semi hard wood cuttings taken during summer season showed a high rooting percentage with decline of rooting process, the results indicated clearly that IBA was inactive when it was used in high concentrations, in semi hard wood cuttings therefore, nursery stocks were small and entered dormant stage. The best IBA concentration was in general 2000-3000 ppm.
