Investigation on benthic fauna and bottom environment in the Chao Phya estuary and off to Sri Racha waters was carried out for 2 years. Seven sampling stations were located along the studied areas. At the innermost station, st. 1, compared to other stations out of the river mouth, benthic fauna were relatively high in density but less in species composition. Water quality at this station was rather poor due to low dissolved oxygen concentration and high sulfide content. However, indicator species of polluted water have not appeared.
