Major economic important diseases of snap bean for frozen production

Disease survey was conducted both in snap bean growing area and experiment plot to identify the major economic diseases of snap bean production. At seedling stage, root and basal stem rot caused by Pythium aphanidermatum (Edson) Fitzp., Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc., Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn and ashy dry rot incited by Macrophomina phaseolina (Tassi) Goid., were identified as the most important diseases. At vegetative stage, anthracnose (Colletotrichum lindemuthianum Sacc. and Magn.), ashy dry rot, rust (Uromyces phaseoli (Pers.) Wint. var. phaseoli and yellow disease caused by virus were identified as the major economic important diseases. P. aphanidermatum, the causing organism of pod rot, was the most important pathogenic agent both in the field and post harvest.
