This experiment was a continuation of the collaborative project among the entomologists of NCSU, Philippines, and Thailand. One hundred and forty six lines were selected from 250 groundnut germplasm evaluated for resistances to the complex of insects in 1986 for reevaluation in the 1987 rainy season. These included the F4 leafhopper test (29 lines), the ICRISAT test (44 lines), and the insect germplasm test (73 lines). The trial was conducted using a randomized complete block design with four replicates. Plot size was single row, 5 m long. The crop was planted on 1 July 1987 and harvested 5 times between 16 October to 16 November 1987. Ratings were done on the complex of insect pests and pod damages. Population of insect pests in general was low in this season. Leaf damages caused by leafminer were examined, and the results showed 14 lines with leaf miner infestation less than that of Tainan 9. No difference in thrips damages could be detected in this test. Leafhoppers were also present in small number. The number of leafhoppers per six leaves ranged from 0.50 to 3.25. Subterranean ants were hardly found in the pods. However, there were 77 groundnut lines that gave yield higher than that of Tainan 9.
