The effect of external factors and soil compaction by agricultural machines on the yield of alfalfa varieties cultivated on hydromorphic smonitza soil calcareous was studied. Nine alfalfa varieties gave on the average 11.5 t/ha of dry matter from 24 cuttings in the six-year period. The studied varieties NS Banat (12.5 t/ha), NS Mediana (11.8 t/ha), OS-66 (12.1 t/ha) and variety Neuga (11.9 t/ha) were resistant to most important diseases, tolerant to cutting dynamics and traffic, and gave high and stable dry matter yield. The effect of soil tillage practices and the application of agricultural machines on soil compaction and production of perennial grasses and silage maize was evaluated.
