The analysis of primary pesticide distribution in apple orchards using an air-carried sprayer

The primary pesticide distribution was analyzed in an apple orchard having one row on a 0.5 m higher terrace and the other at the interrow level. An average droplet size of 74.3-115.7 microm (vmd) was determined in the treetops of the lateral rows. Spray coverage of the surfaces treated was 15.1-132.2 droplets/square cm. The deposit formed was 1.6-38.3 of the total amount. Average droplet and deposit distribution on the branches of the trees treated was also uneven (24.3-64.6), i.e. 25-60.0. Thus, the formulations applied had also an uneven effect on the pests treated.
