[Growth and nutrition of alfalfa in moderately acid soils of the Casablanca valley, fifth region]
1993
Veloso I, German Isamu
In the Casablanca valley, V Region-Chile, a soil fertility study with 19 soil samples taken from different fields was made, the soils selected are mapped as series Piedmont Lo Vasquez (PLV) and Las Rosas (LRR). The first purpose of this study was to make a chemical characterization of soils, and determine macronutrients levels, with the purpose of comparing the status of soils with alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) standards to evaluate the magnitude of the fertilization response in the area studied. The mean values found in the area with both series were: pH 6,6 basic saturation 84,8% and CEC 8,8 cmol(+)/kg. In relation to available fraction of macronutrients the values were: P-Olsen 10,2 mg/kg, K 135,4 mg/kg, S 6,7 mg/kg, and Mg 138,8 mg/kg. The mean supply of P and S were medium and low respectively, and for K and Mg High, in relation to soil standards for alfalfa, these conclusions correspond to mean values of the present study
