Protein requirement of cows accounted as metabolizable protein, RDP and UDP
1991
Oll, U. (Estonian Agricultural Univ., Tartu (Estonia))
Accounting for the protein requirement on the basis of digestible protein is not correct. This why the scientists search new ways to solve questions associated with protein nutrition. One of these possibilities is the calculating of quantity of absorbed protein or absorbed amino acids. The Scandinavian scientists have an AAT-system and the French scientists a PDI-system elaborated. Both of these methods can be estimated as methods based on accounting of metabolizable protein. The second way lies in separate accounting of rumen degradable (RDP) and rumen undegradable protein (UDP). However, it is difficult to estimate the RDP and UDP requirement with necessary exactness. It can still be hoped that as a result of very intensive work in this research sphere which occurs in many lands in present years the new system will be taken into use.
