Scotch pine generalized chronology in Estonia
1994
Lohmus, E.
To make up the general chronology the ring-widths of 851 sample pines taken from different localities of Estonia were measured. The ring-width indices obtained at their standarization (by the method of running mean of 21 years) were averaged on the basis of their site types and geographical location. To clarify the geographical and typological variability within the whole republic the regional chronologies originated from different geographical localities of the same site type and these ones derived from the same area of South-East Estonia but belonging to different site types are compared. To reduce the variability due to the qualities of a sitetype besides the general chronology the mean index chronologies for dry, wet and well-drained sites were made up. The correlation matrix of the mean index chronologies characterizes rather similar growth rhythm of pines in the comparable area
