Allelopathic effects were discriminated from other effects of plant interaction, such as light and nutrient competition. Mixed cultures with high nutrient condition were effective for discrimination of compatibility between two crops, Kidney bean-cucumber, cucumber-corn, corn-kidney bean and corn-soybean suggested these pairs of plants were companion crops. But, mixed cultures were not effective for discrimination of allelopathic inhibition between two crops because of nutrient competition. On the other hand, trapping system for continuous collection of the root exudate was effective for discrimination of allelopathic inhibition.
