The redistribution of heavy metals in the environment by biological cycles as well as the contamination of soil, water and food products have been studied. Necessity to determine the content of heavy metals in different kinds of food is emphasized. In the given investigation 1911 samples of milk, meat and eggs, taken in different regions of Latvia have been analysed. The analyses showed that only in a few cases the level of heavy metals in animal products had been exceeded. The concentration of heavy metals in milk, meat and eggs is given in the table
