Chromosome constitution of high protein and high lysine content wheat-like triticale lines

Wheat-like triticale lines derived from crossing of hexaploid wheat (T. aestivum L.) to hexaploid triticale (X Triticosecale Wittmack) were analysed for grain protein and lysine, and studied cytologically. All nineteen forms were found to be hexaploid (2n=42). C-banding indicated that seven lines contained no rye chromosomes, seven had one rye chromosome, and five retained four or five rye chromosomes. The level of neither grain protein nor lysine was significantly correlated with the number of retained rye chromosomes
