Lead, cadmium and other heavy metals concentrations in vegetables grown in city of Poznan

Vegetables grown in the city of Poznan were analysed to determine concentrations of Pb, Cd, Cu, Mn, Zn and Fe in them, from May through October 1989 at the monthly intervals. It was found that 53.7 percent of leafy vegetables, 26.9 percent of rooty vegetables and 40.0 percent of vegetable crops grown for their fruit contained excessive concentrations of lead. About 73.0 percent of leafy and rooty, and 60.0 percent of fruity vegetables contained excess of cadmium. Concentration of Cu, Mn, Zn, and Fe were in the majority of samples too low
