Final stand and spacing of roots in row, and yield and quality of working machines used for harvesting of sugar beet

Field experiments were carried out in 1988-90. Plant population of 60-120 th/ha at their even spacing had no effect on root yield and its processing quality. The quality of working machines depended on plant population and plant spacing. With increasing number of plants per unit the quality of working machines worsened. One-row harvester Neptun Z 413 was less sensitive to the number of plants at harvesting than six-row one with topper Z 323 and digger Z 415
