A balanced application of chemical nitrogen and phosphorous fertilizers in maize crops for grains under irrigation ensured yield gains of 10-25 q/ha STAS grains and 2-4 q/ha raw protein depending on the doses of applied fertilizers. The protein percentage in the maize grains and the yields of protein/hectare have increased with the nitrogen dose applied. The phosphorous fertilizers contribute to an increased fat content in grains and to the oil production per hectare cultivated with maize, and they stimulate also the protein synthesis in grains.
