Obtaining of substitution lines of common wheat cultivar Saratovskaya 29 with two pairs of definite chromosomes of cultivar Janetskis Probat

Results of development of common wheat substitution lines of cultivar Saratovskaya 29 with two pairs of chromosomes for homologous of the donor cultivar Janetskis Probat are reported for the first time. These lines were developed by crossing each line with the rest 20 lines with substitution in each of them of a definite chromosome pair for a donor one. From a great number of lines with 2-chromosome substitutions 20 lines arrest great interest, in which the 3B chromosome can pair with the rest chromosomes of Janetskis Probat. The results of testcrossing indicate that such important characters as short and thick culm are controlled by genes on 3B chromosome. Genes on 2A, 4A, 5D, 7D chromosomes of Janetskis Probat also influence the phenotypic expression of these characters by reinforcing them, whereas the 1A and 4B chromosomes inhibit them. Initial plants with 2-chromosome substitutions were chosen from the F2 population on condition that the presence of both pairs of the donor chromosomes was phenotypically evident in homozygotes. However, identification of these plants is still made with a definite degree of uncertainty
