Calcium and phosphorus utilization from feeding mixtures, in which wheat (35 %) was replaced with triticale (1/2, 1/4 and all) in a feeding-balance trial with laying hens Shaver Starcross 288 was studied. The trial was realized in the 1st phase of laying cycle. The highest egg shell weight was in the group fed with mixtures containing 17.5 % of triticale (1/2 of wheat was replaced with triticale). 3.15 g calcium, 0.77 g phosphorus was utilized in this group and the ratio of calcium : phosphorus was 4 : 1. Calcium retention was 2.36 g and the content of calcium in blood serum was 2.95 mmol.l** (-1), retention of phosphorus 0.18 g, its content in blood serum 1.32 mmol.l** (-1) and activity of ALP in blood serum was 13.06 mkat.l** (-1) in this group. Excreta in this group reached the highest amount (94.44 g), the highest amount of Ca (0.24 g) and lowest quantity of phosphorus (0.58 g).
