Quality of dung in covered dunghill stored 8 months was studied. The dung pile was 6 m high. The amount of raw dung which was put onto and took from the dunghill was observed. Manure liquid losses were measured, too. The content of dry and organic matter and nutrients (N, P, K, Ca, Mg) were monitored. After heaping dung up to 5 m, the temperature of dung in different depths was measured. 2134.6 t of dung were in the dunghill. It contained 376.16 t of dry matter, 361.94 t of organic matter and 22.39 t of nutrients. During the storage 463.9 t of dung liquid flowed away (21.69 % from raw dung). 1135.3 t of rotten dung were taken for fertilizing. The total loss of raw dung (including dung liquid) was 46.8 %. The loss of dry matter was 27.26 %. The loss of organic matter was the highest (36.68 %), the dung liquid maintained only 1.81 % of it. Losses of nutrients: nitrogen 24.55 % (dung liquid maintained 4.09 %), phosphorus 9.94 % (dung liquid maintained 1.85 %), potassium 13.68 % (liquid maintained 12.87 %), calcium 18.26 % (liquid maintained 15.33 %), magnesium 10.97 % (liquid maintained 7.49 %). The temperature in 5 m depth was 23-27 deg C, in 4 m depth 31-43 deg C, in 3 m 39-45 deg C, in 2 m 42-48 deg C and in depth 1 m 44-55 deg C.
