Study on the utilization of germinated soybean in early-weaned-pig diets

Study on the utilization of germinated soybean for early weaned pig diets was conducted using 32 Large White pigs aged 4 weeks. The animals were divided into 4 groups of 8 pigs each composed of equal number of males and females. Each group of the animals was randomly fed an experimental diet as following Diet 1: Soybean meal diet (Control). Diet 2 Extruded full fat soybean diet: Diet 3: Autoclaved full fat soybean diet, and Diet 4: Steamed germinated (2 days) soybean diet. Pigs on diet 4 (Steamed germinated soybean diet) had significantly poorer (P0.05) performance than pigs fed the other diets. Control diet (Soybean meal diet) still gave the highest performances for the animals.
