Studying of birds at Borapet Reservoir, Nakorn Sawan Province, was undertaken from November 1980 to September 1983. The studied were applied in all months during the study period. Ninetyeitht (98) species of 70 genera, 33 families, and 12 orders of birds were observed in 6 habitats or zones, open water, floating weed, emergent weed, island, swamp forest and paddy field. They are classified as 69 residents, 22 migrants or visitors, 5 residents and migrants, and 2 uncertain status. The garganey (Anas quequedula Linnaeus), whistling teal (Dendrocygna javanica Horsfield), Cotton Teal (Nettapus coromandelianus Gmelin), pheasant-tailed jacana (Hydrophasianus chirugus Scopoli) and house swift (Apus affinis J.E. Gray) are abundant, while black bittern (Dupetor flavicollis Latham), osprey (Pandion Haliaetus Linnaeus), greater thick-knee (Esacus magnirostris Vieillot), whiskered tern (Chlidonias hybrida Pallas) and white-winged tern (Chlidonias leucopterus Temminck) are very rare in this area. The peak in the number of bird species occurred in March 1981 with 65 species. The minimum was tallied in September 1981 with 40 species. The number of species are related to the amount of rain fall, temperature and relative humidity. Breeding biology of 14 species of birds and a new bird recorded in Thailand, the great black-headed gull (Larus ichthyaetus Pallas) are also studied in detail in this paper.
