Between the genotypes and groups of half-sisters studied a significant effect of sires has been found. Heritability coefficient were within limits of 0.23 to 0.40 with an average for all genotypes of 0.53. In relation to previous studies of the first generation, the diminution of average butterfat contents has been found in all genotypes. However three groups of half-sisters achieved an increase of that trait in the second lactation, which points to the possibility of moderation to certain extent the general tendency of lowering of butterfat contents after the first lactation by choice of sires.
