The theoretical study of the problem of optimal room utilization for tree growth shows that the triangular planting enables better room utilization than the square one, in the first case the number of planted trees being 15.5 higher than in the second case, by using the same distance between plants. The increased number of trees by triangular planting increase also the total productivity of poplar plantations, so at a distance of 6 x 6 m the net volume per ha by triangular planting was 15.6 higher when compared with square planting. As a consequence of the increased productivity the net income was increased for 40.9.
