It was studied ten different substrates produced from compost, peat and enriched zeolites (Zeoplant). The height of plants increased most when pepper was grown in the substrate made from the mixture of peat from Grahovo (Yugoslavia) and Zeoplant (2:1). Number of leaves per plant increased most with substrate mixture consisting of peat from Gaj and Grahovo (Yugoslavia) and Zeoplant (2:1). The above ground mass (stem and leaves) and the content of dry matter significantly increased in plants grown on the substrate consisting of peat mixture from Grahovo (Yugoslavia) and Zeoplant (2:1). The pepper grown in containers was shorter, had less leaves, lower plant mass and significantly dry matter content than the pepper grown in boxes.
