Jute products are biodegradable textile materials. Normal jute products degrade completely in about 5-6 months. For the purpose of using them as Geotextiles like drains, filters, separators and reinforcing materials in erection engineering for the construction of embankments, barrages, revetments, roads and highways, it becomes necessary to extend their life span to several years and at the same time protect them from rodent and other insect attacks. Jute fabrics were treated in different ways. Some were blended with coir and some were treated with certain chemicals. It was observed that copper sulphate treatments could protect them partially from the attacks of both rodent and insects.
