The oviposition period and adult longevity of the black vine weevil Otiorrhynchus sulcatus F. were studied in climate room conditions. It was observed that the adults can live up to a maximum of 576 days with an average of 404 days. During this period weevils had an average preoviposition period of 27 days and 378 days of oviposition, the maximum was 551 days. The effective egg laying days were counted over an average oviposition period of 378 days, 208 days were productive. The total number of eggs laid by an individual weevil was higher than already reported. The average number of eggs laid by an individual during its life time was 1603. It was noticed that 65 of the weevils had on an average laid 3-5 eggs/day. The information on the adult longevity and fecundity of these weevils gives us an idea to integrate the control measures in greenhouses as well as in open fields
