The distribution of the European mink in France [Mustela lutreola]. A progress report

In order to check the present distribution of the European mink in France, a large network of trappers has been organised. A programme was set up to systematically search all hydrographic sectors included in the potential distribution area of the species (17 departments). During the first three years, 90 trapping areas were studied and 33 minks were caught. All the captures sites are located in various habitat types of south-western France.
